Photo Shoot
Hi Everyone
We are getting to the end of the semi final stage, just a quick update on the weekends activities. I met a couple of the semi finalist a little closer over the weekend at the photo shoot, I have really been impressed with a couple of the guys, nice down to earth, REAL guys. When you get to know the other competitors you understand why this year’s field is so strong. The photo shoot was a lot of fun and I am very curious to see what the photos are going to look like. Thumbs up to Pieter Cornelius who was taking the photo’s, if the IT doesn’t come off, you can definitely fall back on photography J

Chrysalis Foundation Sponsorships
In the current economic situation we as South Africans are finding ourselves it is not an easy decision to give away money, which is the reason why it is just a beautiful site to see people giving money to charities. I know each of my sponsors personally and not one of the sponsors has money to throw around, but they all wanted to help this great cause we as Mr South Africa semi finalists are supporting.
Here is a little bit more information about the companies that supported me and The Chrysalis Foundation through the competition.
MapIT
MapIT, working with strategic integration partners in the web and mobile environment through the supply of enriched digital mapping and technology, is Southern Africa’s leading enabler of technological mapping solutions.
The company also supplies commerce and industry with applications and data used for asset tracking, fleet management, business and marketing intelligence and web services. Working at the forefront of digital mapping in Sub-Saharan Africa with shareholders TomTom, (navigational solutions provider) through Tele Atlas Africa (a world leading international mapmaker) and local media giant Avusa, MapIT is uniquely positioned to offer solutions to the advertising, mobile and online markets.
West Coast Aqua Culture
West Coast Aquaculture is an Oyster and Mussel farm located in the inner bay of Saldanha Bay. We operate from Pepperbay where our boat leaves every morning between 06:00 and 07:00 for the farm. We harvest and grade by hand which result in an excellent quality handpicked product. The farm has been in existence for close on 10 years but has been operating as West Coast Aquaculture since 14 April 2008. Currently we harvest a yield of more than 200 ton mussels per annum and we have approximately 300 000 oysters in the water. We supply our Mussels as a fresh live product or as a cleaned par cooked frozen product. Our Oysters are currently only supplied as a fresh live product.

Chrysalis Foundation Hawaiian Fund Raiser
One of the main responsibilities of the Mr South Africa semi finalist is to host a fund raising event for the Chrysalis foundation, on Saturday 13 November I hosted my fund raising event. I decided that I wanted to get my close friends involved with the Mr South Africa competition and also with the Chrysalis Foundation.
If I win Mr South Africa my friends will be the people I depend on to help me make a success, so I decided to do something fun and get them involved with the event, I made the theme of the party Hawaiian, there was a big screen for the Springboks rugby game, and we were lucky enough to get a few prizes sponsored for the party.
There was a R50 cover charge and we sold tickets for a lucky draw, the guests could also guess the outcome of the game and the winner recieved a cash prize, everyone had a lot of fun and the most important thing was that we made about R 3000 for the Chrysalis Foundation.
I would like to thank all my friends and family who made this event possible, you are the people who are making the difference in the end, BIG THANKS.

My baby girls first birthday party. As the Mr South Africa competition goes on I am learning more and more every day about the responsibilities that this title will bring into my life if I win, I had to miss a part of my girls birthday party to attend the breakfast show, I realised over the weekend that being Mr South Africa means putting everything else second. Mr South Africa will have to be first priority every day of the year for as long as I have the title. I also realised that I’m willing to make that sacrifice and am getting more motivated every day!

1st Media Coverage
I got really lucky this week, while in Cape Town I received a call from Malindi Strydom, she is a producer at TOP TV. I got the invitation to join them on their morning show, Na SONOP.
I joined them on Saturday morning in Heidelberg for the show and I must admit I was really scared; I have never done anything like this before. Luckily everyone was really friendly and made me feel right at home, we had a nice chat about the Mr South Africa competition and what it entails. The show is being aired on the 27th November so if you have TOP TV please makes sure to catch the show!!
